Meet the contenders
Couple: Rosie Bomford and Steve Cook Date: Saturday 12th June Venue: Treowen House, Monmouth Theme: A weekend wedding festival with roses

Rosie says:
We chose to have a festival theme... because we wanted to give everyone time to enjoy themselves. Treowen House can be hired for the whole weekend and has lovely grounds for guests to camp in. There's also lots of space for kids to play, which was perfect, as lots of our friends and family have children. Having lots of people around also meant there were plenty of helping hands for the preparations, which included decking out the house and gardens with bright flowers, flags and lanterns.
There were a few surprises during the speeches... as eight years previously, Steve was asked to look after a layer of cake for the wedding of his best friend Rich. However, Steve has a really sweet tooth, and absolutely loves marzipan, and after a few drinks one night, he couldn't resist nibbling most of it off the cake. Fortunately, Rich saw the funny side - and needless to say this story made an appearance during his best man's speech. However, Steve had secretly planned to make amends, and presented Rich and his wife Rachel with a replacement cake layer. They were moved to tears! The last laugh was on Steve though, when mum and I presented him with his very own sculpted slab of marzipan!

Couple: Olga Romanova and Simon Parsons Date: Wednesday 2nd June Venue: Buckland Hall, Brecon Beacons Theme: Wild daisies

Olga says:
Our wedding was a big international affair... because I am Russian and Simon is British. We were lucky enough to have family and friends attend from both parts of the world, as well as guests from Kazakhstan, France, Austria and Botswana. The weather was beautiful and gave our guests the chance to drink champagne outside, feast on '99s' from an ice cream van and listen to music from a local school orchestra. Aside from playing Welsh airs, the orchestra also learnt some Russian folk music to surprise our guests. That really was the icing on the cake for us.
We tried to keep the wedding as eco-friendly as possible... and started by printing our invitations on 'sheep poo' paper. (www.creativepaperwales.co.uk). We also used biodegradable confetti, served organic lager and has a vegetarian menu at the wedding breakfast. Not only did the wild daisy theme complement the style of the wedding and the countryside venue perfectly, but it is also my nickname in Russian.

Couple: Donna Ali and Sean Davies Date: Saturday 22nd May Venue: Cardiff Castle Theme: A traditional day with touches of ivory

Donna says:
We chose Cardiff Castle... as, despite not wanting a church wedding, we still wanted a venue with a romantic and traditional atmosphere. The weather was fabulous and the whole day was amazing, but one of my favourite moments has to be riding through the city centre with my two daughters, in the fairytale-style horse-drawn carriage. I felt like a princess.
There were lots of wonderful surprises on the day... for me and the guests. We hired a court jester which provided great entertainment for all the children. The parents were all pleasantly surprised by this! I was also surprised on the morning of the wedding by Sean, when he gave me a beautiful bracelet as a gift.
